On 21 September 2021, Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) announced a restructuring of their existing Vineyard Wind JV. Under the restructuring, Avangrid paid a net consideration of USD 167.5 million to acquire 100% of OCS-A 0534 (previously a 50/50 JV between Avangrid and CIP). OCS-A 0534 contains both Park City Wind (804 MW, Connecticut offtake) and Commonwealth Wind (later awarded up to 1,200 MW in MA solicitation). In exchange, CIP acquired 100% of OCS-A 0522 from Avangrid. Vineyard Wind 1 (800 MW) remained a 50/50 JV between Avangrid and CIP and is not affected. Transaction closed January 2022. Avangrid (81.6% owned by Iberdrola) subsequently terminated the original PPAs for both projects in 2022–2023 due to cost escalation and rebid them in new state solicitations; New England Wind 1 was selected by Massachusetts in September 2024.
