Terms of use

Hafrok is published by Hjörtur Páll Hjartar in Denmark. Using the site means accepting what follows. In short: read it, quote it, cite it, build your own thinking on it. If you want to republish the data itself, say hello first.

What you may do

• Read and use it in your own work. Analysis, investment committee papers, teaching, journalism, internal research. No permission needed.
• Quote and cite it, with attribution. Figures, short passages, screenshots and charts, as long as it is clear the number came from Hafrok and a reader could find it again. Please cite the data date shown in the footer: the numbers move, and a figure without its vintage is not checkable.
• Download the workbook. The whole-database spreadsheet is there on purpose. Use it for your own analysis.

A citation like Hafrok, hafrok.com, data as of 9 September 2026 is exactly right.

What needs a word first

Not prohibitions, and not a hard line to make you go away. They are the cases where a conversation makes the outcome better for both of us. Write to [email protected] and expect a straight answer:

• republishing the dataset, or a substantial part of it, as your own dataset or product;
• redistributing the workbook to people who could have downloaded it themselves;
• building a commercial service whose value rests on this data;
• automated bulk collection: scraping every page rather than taking the workbook, which is slower for you and harder on the site.

Data that is not ours to license

Hafrok stands on public datasets that carry their own terms, and those terms travel with the data no matter what this page says. Where a figure or a map layer comes from the Global Energy Monitor, EMODnet, Marine Regions, the Global Power Plant / grid datasets or OpenStreetMap, that licence governs. Several of them are Creative Commons Attribution, which means you have rights we could not take away and would not want to. Each one is credited on Data sources & licences, and every fact on a project page cites the specific source behind it.

Sources, quotations and copyright

Project pages quote short passages from primary documents (consent orders, auction results, company filings) because showing the working is the point of the platform. Journalism and paid research are different: those sources are cited by publisher, title, date and link, and never quoted, because the words belong to whoever wrote them. If you follow a link to a news article, that publisher's terms apply to you, not ours.

What Hafrok is not

• It is not investment advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or finance anything. It is research. What you do with it is your decision and your responsibility.
• It is not a guarantee of accuracy. The platform is built to be checkable. Every figure carries a mark saying whether it was verified against a source, derived from other fields, or modelled by Hafrok. But sources disagree, records go stale and mistakes happen. The site is provided as it is, without warranty.
• Forward-looking figures are models, not predictions. Expected completion dates and outlook weights are the output of a stated method applied to the evidence held on each record. The method is published; the future is not.
