Iberdrola · Avel Vor — The Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm was awarded to Ailes Marines SAS in the French Round 1 tender (AO1) in April 2012. The original consortium comprised Iberdrola (70%) and Avel Vor (30%), a special purpose vehicle jointly owned by RES Group (the original site developer) and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (subsequently Banque des Territoires). No consideration was exchanged; this was a tender consortium formation. Iberdrola held the majority stake and acted as lead developer throughout the development phase. The project spent approximately 8 years in development and legal challenge before reaching financial close.

Iberdrola acquired the remaining 30% of Ailes Marines SAS from Avel Vor, the special purpose vehicle jointly held by RES Group and Banque des Territoires (formerly Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations). The acquisition gave Iberdrola 100% ownership of Ailes Marines SAS and control over the Saint-Brieuc project, enabling it to take FID and commence construction in 2021. RES Group sold its equity stake at the FID stage, which is consistent with its business model as a development-stage wind originator. No consideration was publicly disclosed. Project investment was approximately EUR 2.4 billion in total. Final Investment Decision (FID) was taken in 2020 following this acquisition. First power December 2023; fully commissioned May 2024.
